eSafe Anti-Anonymizer

Some Employees Can Get Around Security

eSafe Plugs Enterprise Security Loopholes

If your employees are using anonymizers, they are effectively nullifying your security investment. Anonymizer technology can bypass thousands of dollars' worth of network protection and expose your business to attacks ranging from mischievous hackers to cyber criminals. Partner provides the world's only solution that consistently blocks all anonymizers. As part of Partner's commitment to constant innovation and top-notch security, eSafe Anti-Anonymizer is an essential enterprise security tool.

Anonymizer Anatomy

Anonymous proxies, or anonymizers, are Web sites or software that hide a user's real IP address, allowing them to connect to an external Web site and bypass restrictions against prohibited material on the local network. But anonymizers also allow content - and the malware infections that it often carries – to avoid filters in the gateway device and enter the network, where it can easily defeat traditional security measures.

Until now, anonymizers have been difficult to beat. Anonymous proxy servers frequently change URL addresses, which fools traditional Web content filtering technologies, like URL filtering. Moreover, new technologies can create an encrypted tunnel to the Internet by passing corporate perimeter guards that are blind to encrypted traffic. In short, your security is subject to employees' compliance with corporate Internet usage policy - unless you protect your enterprise with eSafe Anti-Anonymizer.

It May Be Fun for Them…

When employees use anonymizing tools and services, their misuse of company resources turns into a threat. The worrisome surge in malware, estimated at a 1,300% growth during the past year1, is not just about annoying viruses. Malware can be used to steal information and damage computer systems – and who knows what the next generation of viruses will be able to do? Added to the fact that anonymizers can be used to access illegal Web sites, and considering new regulations affecting network security like CIPA and SOX, your potential liability is about much more than an unproductive employee. All it takes is one successful malware penetration to void your security efforts and investment.

eSafe – Dynamic Enforcement of Anonymous Web Surfing Policy

eSafe Anti-Anonymizer is the only solution that completely defeats anonymizer technology, protecting your investment in security and limiting your liability due to employee resource abuse. eSafe Anti-Anonymizer uses three layers of protection to prevent anonymizer use:

  • eSafe Web, a URL Filtering Solution that blocks access to known anonymizers and unrecognized Web sites.
  • eSafe Applifilter, which enforces authorized proxy use while blocking tunneling efforts.
  • eSafe Web SSL, which enforces policy on SSL encrypted anonymizer sites. It can proactively identify and block unknown anonymizers as well as block self-signed SSL sites (“homebrew anonymizers”). eSafe Web SSL has the ability to validate certificates, policies, issuers, revocations, etc.

Between these three steps, eSafe detects all efforts to use anonymizers. Partner's Content Security Response Team (CSRT) blocked 100 percent of anonymizers in repeated lab tests, keeping computers free from viruses, spyware, worms and other malicious threats. Competitive solutions did not stand up to proxy threats and allowed users to leave the protected network.
